More with Less

A gospel that is probably as old as humanity but one that's never practiced enough is that the key to success, any success, is in finding ways to achieving more value with less complexity. In other words, keep it simple! Mathematically, you could define the equation as Value + Simplicity = Success

So, what do we mean by ‘value’? Value is when you give people something real, something tangible, something that they really want and something that they benefit from. In the process, if you are unique in your approach, all the more better. At Visions@work, we live by a very simple rule that to-date has worked for us “Provide Value, Receive Payment”

Healthcare, which is my passion, is today a very volatile industry with increasing costs, double digit inflation in insurance premiums, heavy spending with poor results, high regulatory and legislative activity. I couldn’t think of a better time than now for the industry to benefit from the “More value with less complexity” approach. The need of the hour is for more mature technologies that adopt simplistic ways to achieve better healthcare delivery, services, efficiency, patient clinical information management, patient data integration and secure exchange. With consumerism creeping in, providers are challenged to meet the ever increasing demands of the consumer or the patient. As a company, our vision for healthcare has always been to enable simplistic solutions such as Preferr that provide genuine value to providers while at the same time keeping in mind cost, operational productivity and ongoing support issues which are the three biggest issues for wide spread IT adoption in healthcare today, especially amongst the smaller providers

The more value with less complexity approach also works in every other facet of life. As I write this blog, I am thinking about the process I went through when I started Visions@work. The steps to get started and find a foot hold were deliberately kept simple. First, I had to find a business idea that made me sing and dance. Then, I had to define a vision, a purpose for the business to exist and a strategy for the business to grow. Once that was defined, I started making detailed plans and most importantly, I had to get funded. Once all of the above fell in place, we just got going!

Again, a simple approach that helped us get through the first year which is the hardest for any start up business, especially in these times.

Adding more value with less complexity will be the heart of everything we do at Visions@work. Our solutions will showcase that belief, our employees will act accordingly, our sales and marketing strategies will be tailored around that core principle and hopefully we will continue to claim success with this approach for a very long time to come.

Here’s wishing all my readers a very happy Christmas and happier, healthier times in 2010.
