Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, Lake-Sumter Community College, Lake County and Visions@work join hands to provide hi-tech solution for healthcare providers in Lake County.

Availability of Preferr to aid in improving process efficiencies, improve continuity of care, increase patient and physician satisfaction and cut operational costs

CLERMONT, Fla., October 21, 2009-Visions@work, a company focused on e-referrals and physician relationship management solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC), Lake-Sumter Community College, and Lake County to offer Preferr -- a software collaboration platform that improves organizational efficiencies related to the referral process, exchange of health information and managing physician relationships -- to all local healthcare providers in Lake County, Florida.

Preferr (https://www.preferr.net) is a web-based, interactive, intelligent collaboration solution that allows physician offices and hospitals to automate the referral process, exchange patient clinical and contact information, track referrals, communicate real time and forecast referral patterns. This improved communication system between providers serves to address growing needs, improve the continuity of care, and foster better patient care and patient/doctor relationships.

“The partnership was the brainchild of our Economic Development Advisory Council”, said Shelly Weidenhamer, Director of the EDC’s Lake County Regional Office. “We have a Health and Wellness roundtable that represents industry experts in the medical field and this group identified the need to assist our healthcare community with electronic health records requirements and training that were legislated in 2004”.

“To provide the training, Visions@work has offered their software to be used in Lake-Sumter Community College’s new pilot training program for Electronic Health Records Support Technician” said Dr. Mojock, President of Lake-Sumter Community College and Chairman of the Economic Development Advisory Council. “The project which is funded through Workforce Central Florida’s New & Emerging Industries Program is a perfect example of creating partnerships that are win-win-win – everyone benefits from the contribution and Visions@work can market their product world-wide and tout Lake County’s healthcare industry”.

“With one in six workers employed in the healthcare industry, Lake County rivals other major metros known for medical services. That makes this community an optimal location for the partnership with Visions@work,” said Dottie Keedy, Director of Lake County Department of Economic Growth and Redevelopment. “By offering Preferr to all local healthcare providers in Lake County, our community could become the testing ground for a medical advancement which could ultimately lead to cost savings, improved patient satisfaction and stronger provider relationships throughout the healthcare industry, both here and worldwide.”

“The need to improve continuity of care is vital in today’s healthcare environment” said Pranam Ben, Chief Executive Officer of Visions@work. “We are excited that Lake County will be the incubator for this initiative and applaud the EDC, Lake County and Lake-Sumter Community College for introducing Preferr to the local healthcare community. Given our current and future plans with Preferr, we believe this partnership will go a long way in improving operational efficiencies and patient care.”
